O.M.A. Shopfitting Systems: right fit for the environment

In support of our commitment to protect and conserve our environment, we implemented a number of measures to minimise energy use, reduce waste production and capture and re-use rainwater.

We also now offer a range of eco-friendly products, indicated by our O.M.A. GREEN logo.

We are constantly researching the use of alternative materials and practices that can minimise our impact on the environment. Our aim is to not only reduce our impact, but influence others and drive change in our industry.

We recently participated in a government initiative in conjunction with Design Victoria and RMIT University to assess and advise on sustainable design theory, methodologies and processes.

As part of the project, we received an environmental audit, which highlighted key areas where we could reduce our environmental impacts and save money.

Changes were made, which lead to the implementation of sustainable actions across the business, resulting in dramatic environmental impact reductions and financial savings, notably an 85 percent reduction in waste to landfill, installation of a water tank and significant power savings.

We minimised material wastage throughout the business. In the administration and despatch departments paper and cardboard are reused and recycled. Aluminium and glass are recycled and more efficient systems were implemented for office equipment, lighting and machines in the factory.

We also redeveloped our Design Guide as a result and put it to use when designing new shopfits. Soon after the conclusion of the project, O.M.A Shopfitting Systems won an 18 month contract to supply IDW fully recyclable mannequins to a major national retailer.

Managing Director Daryl Moss said that “the program has changed the way we think about our business. Our approach to sustainability will help us service new markets. It’s going to save us money, give us an edge over opposition. It’s something we’re good at and it will give us a marketing edge.” More information
